Account Health

A platform scorecard of policy compliance and performance metrics that determines whether selling privileges remain active.

Aliases: Seller account health, AHR, ODR, 账户状况, 账号健康度

What the scorecard measures

Account health is a platform construct that aggregates policy compliance and customer experience metrics into a status. The composition varies by platform, but the same three families of measure appear:

Policy compliance. Intellectual property complaints, product authenticity findings, safety incidents, restricted product violations, and listing policy breaches.

Fulfilment performance. Late shipment rate, cancellation rate, delivery estimate accuracy, and for platform-fulfilled programmes, inventory performance.

Customer experience. Order defect rate, negative feedback, return reasons, response time to buyer messages.

Amazon, for example, publishes an Account Health Rating on a numeric scale with thresholds that define healthy, at-risk and critical states, alongside metric targets such as an order defect rate under one percent. TikTok Shop uses a violation point system with escalating penalties. The numbers are platform-specific, so a single benchmark does not transfer.

How accounts deteriorate

Deterioration is usually cumulative rather than a single event. A few late shipments, one unresolved authenticity complaint and a rising return rate can combine into a restriction. The pattern matters because remedies differ: metric problems are fixed by operations, policy problems are fixed by evidence.

Appeals and plans of action

Platforms provide an appeal route for most enforcement actions. A credible submission has three parts: what happened, why it happened, and what changed to prevent recurrence. Generic statements that promise to be careful are rejected.

Prevention

  • Monitor the dashboard weekly, not monthly, because some metrics move fast
  • Keep evidence packs for authenticity and authorisation
  • Separate the accounts and environments used for different businesses, which is where account association risk originates
  • Treat seller verification data as a live record, not a one-time upload

Relationship to other concepts

Account health is the platform's aggregate view. Individual mechanisms that feed it include intellectual property complaints, brand registry reports, and authenticity checks. It is not the same as account association, which is a separate policy area, though association findings can take an entire group of stores down at once.

FAQ

What is the Account Health Rating?
A numeric score used by Amazon to summarise policy compliance and performance, with published thresholds for healthy, at-risk and critical states. Other platforms use different schemes.
Which metric matters most?
It depends on the platform and the category. Order defect rate and policy violations generally carry more weight than late shipment, because they signal customer harm.
Can a healthy account still be suspended?
Yes. A single serious finding, such as a confirmed counterfeit sale or a safety incident, can trigger action regardless of the metrics.
How long do appeals take?
Timelines vary from a few days to several weeks. Submissions with documents and a specific corrective action resolve faster than narrative appeals.
Does account health transfer between marketplaces?
Metrics are usually tracked per marketplace and sometimes per account, while serious policy findings can affect related accounts. Treat each marketplace as its own compliance perimeter.
