Account Association
A platform finding that links two or more seller accounts through shared identity, infrastructure or behaviour, often triggering joint enforcement.
Aliases: Account linkage, linked accounts, 账号关联, 关联账号
The policy logic
Most large marketplaces restrict a seller to one account per marketplace unless there is an approved business justification. The purpose is to prevent circumvention: a seller whose account is suspended should not continue trading through a second identity, and a seller should not multiply exposure to evade limits.
To enforce that, platforms build association graphs. When a new account is assessed, it is compared against existing accounts on several dimensions. A match can lead to suspension of the new account and, in some cases, of the established one.
The signal categories
Identity signals. Legal entity, beneficial owner, identity documents, tax number, address, phone number, email, and the bank account used for payouts. These are the strongest and the easiest to control.
Technical signals. IP address and subnet, device identifiers, browser cookies and local storage, installed fonts, time zone, language settings, and the pattern of logins.
Behavioural signals. Shared product catalogues with identical images and copy, identical pricing patterns, simultaneous listing changes, and the same customer service responses.
The important distinction is that identity signals follow the legal person, while technical signals follow the environment. A seller running several stores for different brands inside one company will share identity signals by design; what it must not do is let the technical environments blend into a single fingerprint.
How sellers run multiple stores legitimately
Where the platform permits multiple accounts with justification, the justification has to be documented before the accounts are created, not after a suspension. The operational requirement is separation: distinct login environments, stable and non-shared network exits, separate contact details, and separate payout structures where the platform requires them.
Dedicated multi-account browsers exist for this purpose. Products such as Feikua Browser and Ziniao give each store its own isolated browser profile with its own fingerprint parameters and proxy assignment, so that cookies, storage and device signals do not cross between stores. The mechanism is environment separation; it reduces the risk of a false association finding, and no tool can make an association impossible.
After a finding
The usual outcome is a suspension notice citing related accounts. Appeals require evidence that the accounts are genuinely separate businesses, or that the association was misread. Documentation matters here: company registration for each entity, separate leases or addresses, separate supplier contracts, and a description of the environment design.
Adjacent concepts
Account association is distinct from account health, which measures performance, and from seller verification, which confirms identity. It is closely related to environment isolation at the technical level and to multi-store management at the organisational level.
